On World Book Day, let’s revisit all our favourite pieces of written work and reminisce that book, that story, that character that made us fall in love with reading. I have always enjoyed a classical novel as it takes me back to the times when things that are ordinary in present, were back then not even considered possible. When even though the difficulties a person faced were so different, the emotions remained the same.
Here are some of my favourite quotes from the finest classical novels that were ever written.
“Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit ‘em, but remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.”
―
“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! — When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.”
―
“I’ve got the key to my castle in the air, but whether I can unlock the door remains to be seen.”
―
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”
―
“There are darknesses in life and there are lights, and you are one of the lights, the light of all lights.”
―
“If only there could be an invention that bottled up a memory, like scent. And it never faded, and it never got stale. And then, when one wanted it, the bottle could be uncorked, and it would be like living the moment all over again.”
―
“He’s more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”
―
“Every day is a new day. It is better to be lucky. But I would rather be exact. Then when luck comes you are ready.”
― The Old Man and the Sea
“Life appears to me too short to be spent in nursing animosity or registering wrongs.”
― Jane Eyre

Dracula is on of my all time favourite books and that quote is one of the few that are forever branded into my brain ^_^
I read the classics at a time I was more about the story than looking for quotes and vaguely remember lines from Wuthering Heights, Little Women or Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice but I do remember lines from texts I had to study for literature
