Abu Dhabi is the capital of United Arab Emirates and the largest of the 7 Emirates. It’s ranked amongst the 70 most expensive cities in the world!
Having lived in Dubai for more than 2 years, travelling to Abu Dhabi was not something I needed to plan way in advance. It roughly is 1 and a half hour drive from Dubai.
The city of Abu Dhabi is on the northeastern part of the Persian Gulf in the Arabian Peninsula. It has a hot desert climate. The months of June through September are generally extremely hot and humid with maximum temperatures averaging above 38 °C (100 °F). During this time, sandstorms occur intermittently, in some cases reducing visibility to a few meters. To have the best experience a visit is recommended during the winter months of November to February.
The must visit places in Abu Dhabi:
• Emirates Palace
• Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
• Ferrari World
Emirates Palace is a luxury 5-star hotel in Abu Dhabi. It showcases the Arabic culture in a grand way. It indeed has a palatial look and feel. It is open to the public to visit the lobby and the cafe inside the palace, having no admission charge. You must try the Palace Cappuccino at the Le Cafe, which is a coffee with 24-carat gold sprinkled on it. It’s one-of-a-kind.
Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque is the largest mosque in UAE. The carpet in the main prayer hall is considered to be the world’s largest carpet. The largest chandelier is the 2nd largest known chandelier inside a mosque, in the world. The architecture is spectacular both in the interior and the outside of the mosque, which looks even more glorious at night.
Ferrari world is an amusement park located on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. It is the first Ferrari-branded theme park. This place is ideal for those who are adventurous and crave thrilling rides and well also for those who love the Ferrari brand. My favourite rides are Flying aces and Formula Rossa. It is definitely worth your time and money.
